I want you to learn something new today. Not necessarily like looking up the capital of Mongolia or memorizing another ten decimal places of pi (although, if that’s your bag and it makes you happy, why not?). I’m thinking more of the kind of learning that sparks a new connection … snaps another puzzle piece into place … becomes another breadcrumb that leads you farther down your path. Or onto a whole new path.
Something that matters to you.
This is me, this is my geek; learning, learning, and more learning. Lifelong learning. Learning that never stops. It’s such a rush to have that “ah-ha!” moment. We knew that as kids; the wiring is still there, but as adults sometimes those circuits — those curious, questioning circuits — get a little corroded, you know? The signal becomes degraded.
My capital “G” geek is that learning is the answer. Learning is what will save the world. Learning makes us better; learning helps us continue to become our best selves. Learning empowers us. Learning leads to engagement, empathy, compassion, and action. Learning connects us to ourselves and our communities.
And there’s no way to handle the complexity and demands of this world of ours without learning. Learning all the time.
The total beauty of learning is this: how many things can you point to and say, “It feels good AND it’s good for you” –?! That’s pretty sweet.
